Songs of utter despair, guilt, empathy, lust, longing and/or hope cover art

about

My sister really connects with this song. It makes her emotional as it reminds her of our childhood home. The lyrics came out all at once when I wrote the song though, I didn't deliberate them. I actually thought they were metaphorical. It wasn't until my sister was so affected that I realized what it was truly about. This song was very healing for me at that point.

lyrics

Mother of pain
why don't you try to tame
all your fears
your insanities?
Father of life
why don't you comfort your wife?
Can't you see
that she's not welcome here?

Brother of hope
will you please help me to cope
with this theme
of irony?
Sisters of fate
will you please teach me to hate?
'Cause it's hard
to keep forgiving.

'Cause I've fallen from grace
and I'm all over the place
but I'll try
yes I'll try.
'Cause I've lost my touch
because it hurt so much
but I'll try.

Father of strength
will you please wait under my plank?
'Cause it's clear
I'll need some help here.

'Cause I've fallen from grace
and I'm all over the place
but I'll try,
yes I'll try.

'Cause I've lost my touch
because it hurt so much
but I'll try.
